Reinstall EstLite

All EstLite users may download and install, for free, the latest release of the software from our website.

Basic

If you have set up prices, options, moulding table, customer and job database, they will not be affected by the upgrade. Simply run the downloaded file, estsetup.exe, and the new program will overwrite the old leaving all your settings and pricing data intact.

Advanced

However you can reinstall and start with a "clean slate" by making one or more of the following preparations before running estsetup.exe.

Warning: Do not attempt the "advanced" install if you are not confident about carrying out the instructions below.

1. Remove Moulding Table

The moulding table is removed by deleting all the csv files in the folder C:\Program Files\Est\Mouldings\,or in Vista/Windows 7 Public\Documents\Est\Mouldings

2. Restore Default Prices and Options

To have EstLite revert to the default prices and settings remove est.ini from C:\Program Files\Est, or in Vista/Windows 7, Public\Documents\Est

3. Remove All Customer And Job Data

Perhaps, after an initial period of "playing around" with the program, you may have entered a few dummy names and addresses, and now want to  erase them from the database.

Delete the folder named "Data" from C:\Program Files\Est, or in Vista/Windows 7, Public\Documents\Est\

You must use the appropriate path name, of course, if you have installed EstLite anywhere other than the default location.

Update

From time to time EstLite is updated with new features, the latest release is announced in the EstLite forum. If you do not want to reinstall, or reset any of the default settings, you can have EstLite update itself automatically by simply pressing the Check for updates button while in Options/General. Although this method automatically does a Basic reinstall (see above), you can also do an Advanced manual reinstall using the downloaded file estsetup.exe which is located in the Windows temp folder (usually c:\windows\temp).

Important:

The Check for updates button may not work if Internet Explorer is not installed on your computer, or more specifically, the file WININET.DLL is not in c:\windows\system.
